🦍 Gorillas

Gorilla trekking permits in Uganda are issued exclusively by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). Country Sights Tours books and secures permit reservations directly on your behalf for Bwindi Impenetrable or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

  • Standard Rates: US $800 per foreign non-resident permit. Discounted rates of US $600 apply during low-season months (April, May, November).
  • What’s Included: National park entrance fees, 1 full hour of direct contact with a habituated gorilla family, armed park rangers, trackers, and community conservation support levies.

Yes! A 3-day itinerary is the classic express gorilla package.

  • Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe/Kampala (or take a short domestic flight) to Bwindi Forest.
  • Day 2: Early morning ranger briefing, gorilla trek in Bwindi, 1 hour with the gorillas, and optional afternoon Batwa community walk.
  • Day 3: Scenic drive or return flight back to Entebbe International Airport for departure.

High Season (June–Sept & Dec–Feb): Book 6 to 10 months in advance due to strict daily limit allocations per gorilla family.

Low Season (April, May, Nov): Book 2 to 4 months in advance to secure preferred lodge accommodations and sector permits.

🐒 Chimpanzees

Standard Trekking: Consists of finding the chimp community with ranger guides and spending 1 hour observing and photographing them once located.

Habituation Experience (CHEX): A full-day immersive activity (4 to 6+ hours) accompanied by UWA researchers. You follow a semi-habituated chimp group from dawn until they build night nests.

🦁 Savanna & Big 5

Tree-climbing lions are found in the Ishasha Sector of southern Queen Elizabeth National Park. They climb fig trees during hot afternoons to escape ground heat and insects.

Murchison Falls National Park: Nile Safari Lodge, Chobe Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge.

Queen Elizabeth National Park: Kyambura Gorge Lodge, Ishasha Wilderness Camp, Mweya Safari Lodge.

A 2-hour guided boat launch along the 32 km channel connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. Highlights include dense hippo pods, Nile crocodiles, elephant herds bathing along the banks, water buffaloes, and abundant waterbirds.

🦤 Birding & Shoebill

Excursions depart from Entebbe via boat or vehicle transfer to Mabamba Wetland, followed by navigation in wooden canoes with local specialist bird guides. The best sighting hours are early morning (6:30 AM – 10:00 AM) when Shoebills actively hunt lungfish.

Uganda harbors over 1,080 bird species—over 50% of Africa’s total species count. Key hotspots include Bwindi Impenetrable (Albertine Rift endemics), Kibale Forest, Semuliki National Park, and Mabamba Swamp.

🌊 Jinja & Mountains

Yes! Every river expedition is managed by experienced river guides, safety kayaks, and rescue catamarans. Travelers can choose between high-adrenaline Grade 5 rapid runs or family-friendly Grade 3 scenic floats.

Good physical fitness and stamina are required to summit Margherita Peak (5,109 m). Necessary gear includes waterproof boots, thermal layers, rain gear, crampons, ice axes, and harnesses. All climbs include certified guides, cooks, and porters.

Yes! Popular grand circuits link Jinja Nile rafting, Rwenzori hiking, Queen Elizabeth savanna game drives, and Bwindi gorilla trekking in a single seamlessly organized trip.

✈️ Logistics & Vehicles

Fly-in safaris convert long 8–10 hour driving routes into quick 45-to-75 minute domestic flights (via AeroLink or Bar Aviation), maximizing safari time and eliminating road fatigue.
